Dr. Margarita Cardenas is performing strabismus surgery at Beraja Medical Institute on a 27 year old gentleman who complained of having his eyes drifting outward for many years.
This disease affects thousands of children who are born with an imbalance in their eye muscles. It affects their ability to read, study and have a normal life.
The surgery to correct the muscle imbalance, is being formed under sedation as an outpatient on both eyes during same surgery setting.
The recovery period is usually 2-3 days at home, use of ophthalmic antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drops and no swimming or exposure to dust for 3 weeks.
Final results are seen about 6 weeks after the surgery when the healing process is completed and patients resume school and work activities in 3 to 5 days.
Dr. Cardenas is originally from Colombia and her priority has always been to help others see well, so they can live life to their full potential.
