Laser CLEAR Surgery

Are you over 40 years of age and would like to depend less of glasses or contacts?

If you answered “Yes” you may be a candidate for CLEAR vision

What is Laser CLEAR Surgery?

CLEAR stands for Clear Lens Extraction And Replacement. It is a surgery done to remove your hardened crystalline lens and replace it with a 3-Distance multifocal implant to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and/or presbyopia so you can see far, intermediate, and near without depending on your glasses or contact lenses.

It is the same surgery used to remove cataracts, except that the hardened lens is removed before it becomes opaque. Patients who have this surgery enjoy today the benefit of the not depending on glasses and will never need a cataract surgery in the future.

Laser CLEAR Surgery can correct these four conditions

You may be a good candidate to see without glasses

Also known as nearsightedness, Myopia causes only near images to be in focus, so you will need glasses or contacts to see at a distance. After you turn 40 years of age, you will develop presbyopia and also need bifocals to see near images.

Commonly called farsightedness, hyperopia entails that without glasses you will see better at a distance than up close even though at a distance, images still might not be crisp. You will notice your distance and near vision decreasing in your late 30’s as you develop presbyopia.

Astigmatism means that the cornea (front part of the eye) is oval shaped causing vision to be distorted without glasses at all distances.

Referred to as long arm vision, presbyopia occurs when the natural crystalline lens inside the eye has become harder, less flexible, and does not allow you to focus sharply to read.

There has never been a better time to start living without glasses!

Laser CLEAR Surgery

Regain your vision!

We were the first facility in Southeast Florida to perform Laser CLEAR Surgery with a 3-Distance Multifocal Implant.

With the femto-laser, we can correct your astigmatism, make all the incisions, and easily divide the hardened crystalline lens inside the eye into over 50 small pieces so it can be easily aspirated. This increases precision and your probability of not depending on glasses after your surgery. Performing the surgery without blades leads to a faster recovery with less fluctuation of vision, and more accurate visual results.

In this animation you can see how much more precise the laser is when performing cataract surgery. Laser CLEAR Surgery uses the same technique to remove your lens and replace it with a 3-D implant before it becomes opaque.

Before the Operation

If you wear contact lenses remove them before we take your eye measurements. Remove your soft contact lenses for 3 days and your hard contact lenses for 4 weeks before we measure your eyes.

Our anesthesiologist’s recommendations are tailored to your needs. Do not stop taking aspirin or blood thinners. Come to the surgery center without having breakfast at the designated time. Make arrangements for someone to take you back home after the surgery since you will not be able to drive.

Our friendly staff is available to help you with financial arrangements and answer any questions.

The Procedure

First we take you to the laser room where the astigmatism is corrected and the clear hardened crystalline lens is divided into over 50 pieces with the laser.

Then you are moved to the operating room where the clear hardened crystalline lens is aspirated and the 3-Distance Multifocal Implant is inserted in the eye.

The entire procedure is virtually painless performed using an intravenous sedative, anesthesia drops, and no blades, stitches, or patches so you can use your vision the same day.

After Your Operation

You can resume all your activities immediately except for swimming in pools or the ocean, doing gardening, and construction work for two weeks. After this period you can return to all your normal activities.

Apply all the drops recommended in order to ensure excellent healing.

The day after the surgery please remain at home so we can contact you. Do not miss your post-op appointments and feel free to call us for any reason if you need to see us earlier.

Insurance Coverage

This procedure is considered a cosmetic surgery and is never covered by insurance.

We accept all major credit cards, checks, and cash. If you need financing, one of our representatives will help you to finance this procedure.
